Nyalenda Schnelli Development group is an independent registered non-government and non-profit Community-based Organization established in Kisumu - Nyalenda slums. NASCED is the central umbrella of all the projects developed under it.
In 2016, Madam Beatrice Schnelli and a group of dynamic and like-minded youth got together to establish an organization that would address the most urgent and pressing needs of the people of Nyalenda slums, in Kisumu town - Kenya. True to this spirit, an Organization called Nyalenda Schnelli Development group (NASCED) was formed.
Taking into consideration the knowledge and skills in management and governance, coupled with grit and determination, this group is conscious of the plethora of problems plaguing the slum dwellers. Consequently, the Organization's focus was not kept limited either in terms of geography or sector. While operating in different parts of the slum, NASCED has been carrying a range of interventions in education, health & hygiene, youth & women empowerment, emergency response & preparedness, governance, human rights, among others. The group endeavors to mobilize young people in the slum to take a proactive role in alleviating the aforementioned activities and tackling the problems they face. Our approach is holistic and accommodates the diverse background and interests of the people involved. The group also aims at achieving social justice, equity, and poverty alleviation. Therefore Nyalenda Schnelli Development Group is committed to successfully implement its projects through herein stated vision, mission, goals, and objectives.
Although a somewhat new entry in the development arena, NASCED – owing to its founder's linkages with national & international communities – enjoys a diverse portfolio, characterized by a partnership with organizations such as African Heritage Switzerland.
